Picture it, write it

Mesmerized by the red ribbons swirling around her feet she mindlessly moved the sponge over her torso. Concerned over her lack of concern, she frowned, wondering why she couldn’t pull up a single ounce of compassion for the man she had left in the basement. He had touched her, terrorized her, invaded her and stole both her innocence and youth, but he was human, perhaps she should care.

She tried to focus on school and friends but he dogged her every move. Always on hand for an innocent touch on the back or a congratulatory hug over an award, he never strayed far from her world. He entered her, he debased her, he forced her to lie to protect those she loved.

He had to be stopped, and she made sure he was. The ribbons of blood washed away, but her trauma, and guilt wouldn’t be so easily expunged.

Great work. I loved the description of ‘ribbons of blood’. I’m very glad she stopped him. You go girl! Thanks for contributing this week to Picture it & write.

Haha, this cracked me up. I joked on Facebook that I had a friend with a guy rotting in the basement, and now I read this! Life gives me the best coincidences!

I really liked the concern over the lack of concern!
