Slamming the car door she stormed the beach, kicking sand and feeling sorry for herself.

She pictured two faces, each holding a piece of her heart, and both asking to marry her. Todd, tall, well-to-do and damn good-looking. Josh, average looking, but fun, caring, close to family and up to any challenge.

“Give me a sign!” she shouted, her face to the sky.

When the shell bumped her toe, she laughed.

They could only represent one thing, Josh’s ears, his only perceived flaw, and one she would grow to love. Hitting speed dial she shouted “YES,” into the stunned man’s ear.

I thought the shell with two identical parts would just be the two men and not help at all. I enjoyed this. BTW, where in Ohio are you? I’m in the Cleveland area, at last for the time being.

  3. Mike says:

A great story – made me smile.
You just never know where those life changing signs are going to pop up!

  4. Lovely way to demand an answer from the universe and get a good laugh as well as a clue. This one, with the shell-to-ears connection, tickled my funny bone!

  5. Adam Ickes says:

She made the right decision, though I don’t think a sign was really necessary for that to happen.

  6. Sandra says:

Might be an idea not to let him know how she came to her decision. Nice one!

  7. Always enjoy surprises and that one surprised me wonderfully! We should all have the wisdom of the shells.

  8. raina says:

how sweet. I guess one sees what she wants to see…wanted to marry Josh all along I reckon…

  9. rochellewisoff says:

Josh sounds like the right choice. Glad she was able to look to his character even though the shells reminded her of his ears.

  10. Ears…haha. This has to be the most unique take on the picture thus far! How fun!

Good for her, the one she loves who is always there, who is funny and kind will be the one that matters in the end. Loved it:

  15. Carrie says:

So sweet πŸ™‚ A delightful little story

  16. Brian Benoit says:

Ha, I liked your different take on “storming the beach” – and I’m amazed that not one but two people saw ears in this week’s picture! Really nice take on the prompt.
